it all started many generations ago

The Geller family represents 15 generations in the jewelry industry. In the late 1800's, David Geller worked as personal jeweler to Tsar Nicholas II in Russia, before immigrating to America at the turn of the century with his wife and their son, Dan Geller. Dan worked in the jewelry manufacturing houses of New York alongside his father and dozens of other jewelers, making just enough between the two of them to support their family.

Dan would go on to become a leader in the jewelry industry, counting many of the greatest jewelry and diamond icons in the world among his closest colleagues, including Harry Winston! Eventually, Dan would move himself and his wife, Eve, to Atlanta, where he would start his own operation, manufacturing and selling to local, independent jewelers around the city. Eve would tirelessly walk the streets of downtown Atlanta, offering special orders and taking in repairs, and Dan would carry out all the work himself.

Creating the Jewelry Business for the Southeast

By 1939, Dan had built the Southeast's first Jewelry wholesaler - D. Geller Manufacturing and Wholesale Jewelers. He employed nine on-the-road salesmen, and 15 bench jewelers working on Broad Street in downtown Atlanta. Dan had built a business from the ground-up that now sold jewelry to over 350 small businesses across the Southeast, and eventually became the South's first catalog showroom.

By 1960, Mike Geller was a 7-year-old jeweler's apprentice at D. Geller. He was a full-time employee by the age of 14. At 16, Mike was in charge of the entire manufacturing department, producing jewelry for independent stores all over the Southeast. Mike asked for a raise in 1974, and Dan instead added “& Son” to the company’s name.

One year later, Dan Geller passed, and Mike took over the business at the age of 23. Over the next decade, Mike would transition from a wholesale operation to a full retail store, moving away from downtown and onto Cobb Parkway.
