Although July is most often associated with Independence Day (as it should be!), July is also known for its beautiful birthstone: the ruby.
Rubies are known for their vibrant red color which has also crowned them as the "king of precious stones." Their natural color also correlates with the belief that rubies encourage vitality, life, courage, and ensure success in life, wealth, and battle. In addition to having a fire-like glow from within, rubies are also a favorite among gem lovers because of their wide variety of uses, beyond the scope of jewelry, which includes: lasers, watches, and medical instruments! Celebrities are no stranger to this beautiful stone either!
Although they are strikingly different, Jessica and Ashlee (formerly) Simpson each sport a ruby engagement ring on their left hands! Ashlee's ring features a marquise diamond center stone that is surrounded with inlaid rubies and Jessica's ring is a more traditional three-stone ring with white diamonds on either side of her ruby center stone! Eva Longoria's beau took a more modern approach and proposed to the pint-sized actress with a ruby center stone surrounded by a halo of diamonds!
