Planning for our wedding was one of the most fun (and sometimes very stressful) things we (Lexie & Andrew) have done in our lives so far! We had a long engagement of two years so I think that helped us plan without being completely overwhelmed. We had the chance to spread things out and actually enjoy the engagement without feeling rushed through the whole process. These are just a few of the things I enjoyed about planning for our special day. :)
My 5 Favorite Things About Wedding Planning:
Pinterest-ing: Finding ideas of what our day could look like was so fun! There are so many types of themes, decoration ideas, colors, etc. that have been used for other people’s weddings so it was fun to see what I could piece together to best represent Andrew and me.
Quality time: I am very fortunate to have married someone that is so helpful in every way. He constantly asked what needed to be done so that I wouldn’t feel overwhelmed (this IS his day too, ya know!). When I wasn’t spending time with Andrew planning, I was with my mom or my sister. I am not very good at visualizing things, so it was such a relief to have these women with such amazing taste in what looks nice to help me plan.
Getting things done: There was a constant checklist going on in the notes of my phone, so whenever I accomplished something, it was the best feeling of deleting it/crossing it off!
The rings: Finding our wedding bands was one of the most fun parts of wedding planning! Since Andrew got to do all of the shopping for my engagement ring (with a little help from me of what I wanted), I loved being able to choose my wedding bands! We went to a few different places, but nothing stood out to us until we went to D. Geller & Son. They had so many options to choose from and they made everything so easy for us; we bought the bands that day! I also loved seeing Andrew try on rings. It gave me a glimpse of what he’d look like as a married man. :)
The wedding day: We were engaged for two years and I think my favorite part of the planning was when it was over lol. Two years is a long time to be planning and stressing about the small and large details of the happiest day of our lives so when the wedding day finally came, I was overwhelmed with emotions. No telling how many times I happy cried that whole day; it had to be at least 20 times! All of the planning paid off because the day went perfectly. The timing of the ceremony was so smooth, the decorations were perfect, our photographer captured everything the way we wanted (and more), and Andrew & I couldn’t have been more ready to be married. The planning is stressful, but when you see it all come together on the wedding day it is worth it in every way.
