2021 is HERE!👋 Last year taught us many things, but one thing stands true... you can’t stop love! Love goes on and so do engagements, marriages, and everything in-between. We are so grateful to be given the opportunity to continue spreading love and joy within our community. That includes being able to play a small role in our customers' lives! Engagement ring trends are ever-evolving and we’re happy to report that we have our top five engagement ring trends forecasted for 2021. If you or your future fiancé love any of the trends we have listed below, or if you have another design that you’re interested in, please keep us in mind during this special time in your lives.
1. Elongated, Fancy Shape Engagement Rings
All diamonds that are not a round diamond are considered “fancy” cut diamonds. This includes, pear, emerald, oval, cushion, asscher, princess, heart, radiant, and marquise shape diamonds. Although there is an increase in fancy shape diamonds, we’re expecting to see an even bigger increase in elongated, fancy shape diamonds. The elongated shapes that are making a presence in 2021 are marquise, elongated cushion cuts, pear shape, and emerald cuts! The reason behind this is because their proportion ratio provides them to have a LARGE appearance which takes up more space on a finger.
2. Hidden Halos and Accent Diamonds
We’re sure you have heard of halo diamond rings where the diamonds surround the center stone, but have you heard of hidden halo rings? A hidden halo features diamond details that are located on the basket of a ring surrounding the underneath of the center stone. We’re expecting this will be the newest halo trend this year. Alongside hidden halos, accent diamonds will be a trend this year, too. That includes side profile diamonds that add a little extra sparkle to a ring. Afterall, who doesn't love sparkle from all angles?
3. Solitaire Engagement Rings
Solitaire style engagement rings have never actually gone out of style or lost popularity. However, one thing is certain, last year taught us that less is well... more! Solitaire settings are timeless and come in many variations (different band widths, band/side profile detail, prong or bezel set, and various metal options). Overall this setting style lets your center stone shine, whether a diamond, gemstone, or alternative is set in the ring. We can’t forget to mention that solitaires allow you the option to have a field day with the style of wedding band you can choose from. Solitaires match with everything!
4. Yellow Gold Engagement Rings
Yellow gold rings have never really been an unpopular choice when it comes to engagement rings, but we are definitely starting to see more and more people request yellow gold again. Yellow gold engagement rings are a classic and they have made a full-circle comeback since the 1990s! You can expect to see and increase in yellow gold rings regardless of the style either because they're being passed down as heirlooms or created to start a new legacy.
5. Halo Engagement Rings (Modern - Vintage)
It is no surprise that diamond halo engagement rings will continue to be a popular choice of ring style in 2021. Not only does a halo of diamonds add more sparkle to a ring, but they also make the center stone look larger (WIN WIN)! We are expecting to see a larger variety of halo style in ring choices this year (from cushion halo or baguette and vintage halo rings) that lend themselves to a truly one-of-a-kind look.
