Showing off your beautiful ring (or rings) is always a good idea, but getting the perfect picture can be harder than it seems. Let us give you some professional tips on how to master the perfect ring selfie!
Tip 1. Clean your ring(s)! You can stop by a D. Geller & Son near you for your complimentary cleaning or discover how to clean your ring with our at-home DIY here.
Tip 2. Clean up your nails and moisturize your hands. This will allow your hands to have a soft glow and prevent any hangnails from stealing the spotlight. These two steps will make sure your photo has a smooth effect!
Tip 3. Find great lighting... lighting is key! You want to make sure you’re not in direct sunlight because it will give you harsh shadows that are hard to workaround. The key is to go near a window and turn away from it- you’ll get the best lighting that way. Going outside and standing in the shade also provides great, natural lighting! Indirect is best!
Tip 4. Clear your camera view from clutter; the best photos have little to nothing visible in the background. We like to use a plant, wall, or a clear floor.
Tip 5. Snap away! You can zoom in to help light from reflecting where it’s not wanted. Another trick is to take a video and save your screenshots! The quality of video images is a bit higher and can get you that next level detail! Have an iPhone? You’re in luck with this trick. Start the video to record and tap the round white button next to the red record button. It will simultaneously take a snapshot of your video!
Tip 6. Adjust the lighting! (Also, for iPhone users) Tap your screen and look for the yellow box that appears in the focus zone. Then tap the sun icon and move it upward to make the photo brighter or down to make the photo less bright. If you’re using an Android or any other device, make sure your screen is focused on your ring(s)!
