- If you are still in the process of choosing (or hinting at) an engagement ring, it bever hurts to consider the type of band that will compliment and fit against your ring. You want to think about if you will be able to wear a straight band with your setting or if you need a contoured band that will hug the shape of your engagement ring.
- Choose a metal (white, yellow, rose gold or platinum). We encourage opting for a wedding band that is made in the same metal as your engagement ring. This will ensure your wedding band and engagement ring will have similar maintenance and upkeep when you take your jewelry in for routine inspection. This also means your engagement ring and wedding band will wear the same over time. However, it is still fun to mix metals! For example: pairing a 14k white gold band with a 14k rose gold band! Ultimately, do what makes you happy! There are no rules.
- Stones or no stones? Narrow down if you prefer to have stones or a simple band. A few example options are wedding bands that have diamonds, gemstones, or none. Bands can come in sapphire, ruby, diamond, and many other options with or without stones. Create a Wish List of what you’d like to try on. If you want a pop of color, maybe you will want to try on a ruby band, or if you like a combination of diamonds and gemstones you can go for an alternating sapphire and diamond band. If you don’t think you’d like either, you can even go with the ever-classic simple gold band.
- Lifestyle test! When choosing your wedding band, it is important to keep in mind your day-to-day lifestyle since you will likely be wearing your wedding band every day. If you live a more active/ hands-on lifestyle you should opt for a durable style wedding band such as a channel set or simple polished band. Also be sure to consider the way the stones are set in your wedding band. Options include channel, prong, bezel, fishtail, pavé, shared prong, single prong, etc. When deciding between these options we recommend asking an associate to try on a few different options to see what fits your lifestyle and engagement ring best!
- Choose a band that compliments your style and personality. Yes, it is tradition to get a band that matches your engagement ring to a "T," but if that is not your preference then that is totally okay! Remember, there are NO RULES. We fully believe in mixing and matching different styles and that anything goes. Have some fun and try on a few stackable style wedding bands that will add a little extra character and sparkle to your wedding set!
- Look to the future. If you are planning to add another band to your wedding set in the future, or start a ring stack, you should consider how the design of your initial wedding band will compliment your future wedding stack style. Make sure that your band is a design that you can see yourself loving several years from now. However, it’s never too early to start a ring stack if you’re asking us.
- Does your favorite band feel like more of a "splurge?" GO. FOR. IT. Even if that means saving for a little bit longer or taking advantage of layaway or financing options. Your wedding band will be a daily reminder of the vows you and your significant other made to each other. Plus, it'll outlast the top tier of your cake and your floral arrangements.
